Xan Paphitis, or Xan as he is known, grew up in Tottenham where his initial musical influences where more hip-hop and R&B based. His love for house started when he moved to Essex, enjoying the more funky/vocal styles of house that were popular at the time. It was after attending his first Half Baked and Fuse raves in 2010 that his passion for a more underground style of house began and he never looked back.
His initial foray into mixing encompassed the house from his early days in Essex, playing lots of classic vocal house, and he quickly discovered a natural talent. Having a strong network of friends in the DJ community, it was only a matter of time before Xan found his way onto the scene behind the decks, and in the short time he has been playing out he has featured in clubs like Studio 338, 93 Feet East, Basing House, and Shoreditch Platform.
His current style incorporates high energy and bass driven tech-house, and he likes incorporating subtle instrumental and vocal tracks for audio texture. Having spent years raving, he understands that playing to the crowd is one of the most important parts of DJing.
He began producing when he bought his first PC at 18, cutting up and remixing various R&B tunes for his car, not realising at the time that it was producing. He has been exploring producing house tracks in recent months and released a remix for George Smeddles’ “Shake your body” last summer. He plans to spend more time in the studio for 2019.
As the newest Más Vida resident, he recently played at their 1st Birthday Back-2-Back special at Shoreditch Platform, and looks forward to growing with the brand and enjoying the busy party schedule they have lined up for 2019.
